Until We Can Reestablish A Condition Under Which The Earnings Of The People Can Be Kept By The People, We Are Bound To Suffer A Very Severe And Distinct Curtailment Of Our Liberty.

I Should Be Very Sorry To See The United States Holding Anyone In Confinement On Account Of Any Opinion That That Person Might Hold. It Is A Fundamental Tenet Of Our Institutions That People Have A Right To Believe What They Want To Believe And Hold Such Opinions As They Want To Hold Without Having To Answer To Anyone For Their Private Opinion.

Our Domestic Problems Are For The Most Part Economic. We Have Our Enormous Debt To Pay, And We Are Paying It. We Have The High Cost Of Government To Diminish, And We Are Diminishing It. We Have A Heavy Burden Of Taxation To Reduce, And We Are Reducing It. But While Remarkable Progress Has Been Made In These Directions, The Work Is Yet Far From Accomplished.

You Can Display No Greater Wisdom Than By Resisting Proposals For Needless Legislation. It Is Much More Important To Kill Bad Bills Than To Pass Good Ones.
